Another Year Older….

That’s right Today is my birthday! I am another year older. 40 is SLOWLY creeping up on me. Although, I still have a few years before I hit 40! YIKES!

Since it is my birthday. I wanted to share a few reason…why, I absolutely LOVE my birthday being on May 30th.

  • I absolutley LOVE the month of May.  So I am so glad that my mom didn’t go over into June.  Thanks, Mom!
  • My sister, grandmother, step-dad, grandpa, a few cousins, My Mother In Law’s and my best friends  birthday is also in the month of May.
  • Mother’s Day is in May!  How neat that I get two days in one month that is all about ‘ME’.  Kind of greedy on my part, huh?
  • I Love that I was born on my Parental Grandparents anniversary.  Although, no one but my sister, mom and dad acknowledged it.  To tell the truth, I don’t even know if my grandparents or extended family really even realized that it was also my birthday.  They NEVER made mention of it.  Oh well!  I love that I have that ‘connection’ with them.  Even if I am the only person (excluding the above mentioned) that knows it.
  • This one is my favorite!  May 30th is Traditional Memorial Day.  I absolutely LOVE having my birthday on what should be one of the top Patriotic days of the year!  Maybe even ‘THE’ top.  I kind of wish that they would just set Memorial day to be on May 30th every year.  I love having the honor of being born on a day we should be remembering those who fought and still fight for our freedoms.  I could not have been born on a better day!
  • I love the fact that on this day thirty —— years ago that I was given a name that is so rare it isn’t even in the baby books.  And I was named by the Best person on Earth.  My grandpa Coats!  He named me, Suprina.  I miss him dearly!

I love the month of May so much that I really tried to have David ON my birthday.  It almost worked out.  However, the sitter we had for our other 3 kids didn’t work out on that day.

We are not doing much today.  I think we are all going out to eat at Ryans.  I am unsure of anything else.

So far, I have been pretty pampered for my birthday.  I got 5 new shirts, a pair of new shorts and a pair of new capris.  My mom (sent money) but with that money I purchased a outside hanging plant.  And some smaller little plants for Aimee to grow.  I will get pictures of them soon.

I will leave you a picture of me when I was a little baby thirty some odd years ago…..

Have a Wonderful Day.

Slice of Life Sunday~~~Sisters

The word sister….To me that is one word in a handful of words that is so sweet sounding to my ears.  I do have one.  A little sister who just celebrated her 27th birthday this past Saturday.

At one time, I would tell you that my sister and were totally different from each other.  And we are different in a lot of areas for example.  She has my aunts beautiful feet with wonderful high arches.  I have my grandmothers awful feet.  She has COLE black eyes.  I have cat green eyes.  She has Cole black hair. Me I have dirty brown with grey hair.   She is darker complected (must be our Indian heritage creeping in) and I very porcelain in complexion.  However, we both share the same mother and father.

My sister is 8 years younger than me.  When she was a newborn ( I really do mean a newborn 1-2 weeks old) I used to push her around in my baby doll buggy.  Then as she started to walk and talk and run around the house…I played school with her.  And she was my BEST student.

Then I hit around 15 years old.  She was 7.  She always found a way to bother me.  Get into my make up or interupt a kiss from a boyfriend.  It never Failed.  She was VERY good at it.  She would always remind me that she was just doing her job being a little sister….trying to keep me out of trouble.  Even though it annoyied me to absolutely NO end at the time.  Looking back, I am so glad she did those obnoxious things.

My sister Shawna and I are very close.  And we live over 600 hundred miles away from each other.  She is always on my mind.  We rarely get to see each other.  The last time I actually saw her was when Zachary was a baby and now he is 7.  However we do talk to each other on the phone.

I have missed so much in her life and I deeply regret it.  I missed her wedding shower, her wedding, her baby shower and my neice coming into the world.  But through it all I have been there for her.  I helped her design her wedding invitations.  Even though I lived in Germany at the time.  I bought stuff for her wedding and baby shower and made sure my mom took them.

Shawna is VERY intelligent.  She is now getting her Master’s in Speech Pathology.  She is beautiful.  Both inside and out.  She can sing like there is NO tomorrow.  She has even performed several times on the Oklahoma Opry.  She is a upbeat positive person that people gather around.  Shes funny even though I don’t think she thinks so. She is a Awesome Daughter, sister, wife, mother and Aunt. She is extremely honest and trustworthy.

I feel so blessed that God gave her to me as my sister.  I wish everyone could have the  experience of having a wonderful Sister bond as I do with my baby sister.

Below is a picture of my sister with husband Jason.

It is not the best picture of her (ooooh she is going to hurt me for saying that) but at least you can see just how beautiful she is.

Thanks so much for reading about my sister and this was so fitting since she just celebrated her birthday.

Thursday Thirteen # 16 “S” Words About me

My 13 words have to deal with things about me or my personality.  And they all have to begin with the letter “S”.   The letter “S” not only starts my name but is also my favorite letter.

1.   Shy~I am extremely shy.  In “Real Life” it takes me while to be comfortable with people.  Usually a good 6 or so months before I come out of my proverbial shell.

2.  Sister~I am a sister.  I have one little sister.  I have always called her my baby sister and always will.  She is one person that will always have my love and support no matter what.  She is also a whopping 8 years younger than me.

3.  Seven~My favorite number.

4. Son~I have three of these.  Daniel-Jacob, Zachary and David.  I never dreamed that I would be the mother of 3 son’s.   Each one of them brings something totally different to our family.  People say you can tell they are brother.  People think they all look just a like.  However, me being there mother see the differences in appearence in them.  Daniel Looks like his grandfather.  Zachary looks exactly like Eric.  And David looks exactly like my mother in law. It’s a shame she has never meet him (David).

5.  Sing~This is something that the women in my family enjoy doing.  I enjoyed singing since I was a little girl.  Music is/was a HUGE deal in my family.  My sister sings.  My mother sings.  My dad can sing when and if he wants to.  All my uncles have WONDERFUL voices.  And I have a Aunt that sings beautifully as well.  Aimee also sings and I am bias but she is getting pretty good.

6.  Silly~I love watching my kids acting silly.  I like acting silly around me kids and seeing there faces of dread…

7. Spring~Spring is my favorite season.  And I just realized it about a week ago.  I used to say Winter and Spring…but now Spring has it hands down.

8.  Sentimental~Oh my gosh, how this word descibes me to a T.  I am a very sentimental person.  When I even touch or look at a recipe book….I think of my grandma.  Sometimes Aimee will say something just right and I can imagine her saying that as a 3 year old.  Same goes for the boys.

9. Sorry~IMO this word doesn’t get said often enough.  And it is such a simple word with a powerful meaning.  I admit, I have to work on this myself.  Some people (including myself) act like if they even say ‘Sorry’ that it is going to come out and bit them.

10.  Soft~ I love the feeling of touching soft little baby cheeks. Soft Fabric’s….

11. Stuttgart~It is actually Stuttgart, Germany.  David was born there.  I loved having him in Germany.  Absolutely Adored my doctor.  Whom actually practiced in Dallas, TX for 13 years.  It was great fun chatting with him and he had the best bedside manner.  And a Awesome doctor to boot.

12.  Schedule~My kids thrive on schedules.  If something is ‘off’ on there schedule then you can sure tell it by there groochy mood.  My older two have actually put themselves on there own schedules and have developed there own “habits”  Of course some of them are good and some are bad.

13.  Soapapia~Last but certainly not least because it is one of my top 5 favorite “S” words.  My father in law gave me this as my ‘nick-name’ because for the life of him he couldn’t remember Suprina.  So he just said he was going to call me ‘Soapapia’.  I didn’t mind and thought it was very sweet.   I don’t know too many father in laws that give there daughts nick names.  I love my father in law so much.  I couldn’t have asked for a better father in law or mother in law.

Thursday Thirteen #14-Things I HOPE to accomplish

Thirteen Things that I hope to accomplish BEFORE my kids go back to school in the fall.

With School very close to ending…here is a list of 13 things I want to accomplish before school starts back in the fall.

1. Paint!  I want to paint ALL of the downstairs! All of it.  The hall way my living room, formal dining room, breakfast nook and my daughters room.

2. I want to replace my ole’(and it isn’t that old…not even 3 years old) dingy carpet that the contractors put in.  They used VERY cheap carpet and it shows everything.  Not good with 4 little kids running around.

3. I want to purchase a deep freeze and fill it with up with Bread, meats, summer foods….etc…

4. And to do #3  I We are going to have to clean out our garage before the middle of May.

5. I want to purchase the nice 2″ wood blinds for my breakfast nook to match my kitchen window blinds.

6.  I would also like to start changing out the rest of the blinds in our house little by little.

7.  New Window treatments….I have one window in my formal dining room and I would love to have a curtain flowing to the bottom of the floor.

8.  Get my cat declawed.

9. Landscape and change out my front plant/tree/flower beds—-again the contractors did a horrible job at landscaping our property.

Have any ideas???  Here is a picture of the front of our house….

Kitchen Table Chat's Home

The two little ‘trees’ on the ends one is dead and one is on the way out…

10.  Change my front door….I HATE our front Door.  I want a black door to match our shutters. With an oval glass in the middle.

11.  Get Screen doors for all three of the doors leading outside.

12. Stain our Deck.

13. Get a grill and some deck furniture…

Now, I will really be suprised if we even get a 4th of this accomplished….Guess we will see..
