I LOATHE April the 1st!

Hey Guys!
Yes, you read it right. I can’t stand April Fool’s Day. To me, some people go over the top with jokes and pranks. Yes, I realize it is all in good fun…..
Why on earth would you want to humilate someone….
My daughter can’t stand it either. She usually ends up crying every April Fools day. However, so far, she hasn’t this year.
In our house it is the total opposite. No jokes or practical jokes are allowed to be played on anyone for that day.
Both my daughter and I can take a joke. However, we just don’t see the need in carrying overboard. To the point where someones feelings get hurt.
Growing up, Aprils 1st was just another day. My kids know when EVERY ‘holiday’ is. And I use the word ‘Holiday’ loosly for April Fool’s day….I just don’t see it as a holiday that even needs to be.
I love the month of April….just April fools day I could without celebrating.
On to another topic~
I think Daniel is starting to test his boundaries. He just turned 11 in Feb. I think he is getting at that ages to see what mom and dad will and will not take and how far he can go with it. I ‘feel’ those pre-teen years fast approaching with him…..
And just to think I have a daughter that is 18 months behind him….
Not much has gone on today……I did manage to get in a 30 minute nap myself. Which felt great. And David took an awesome nap for me today.
Tomorrow starts my spring cleaning…..I am so excited to get my house to smelling and looking fresh and clean…
Oh and Jennifer, if you think your kids rooms are bad then you should see our playroom…..Which I would NEVER show! NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, Nope will not do it.
My headbands are selling very well. And more fabric is on it’s way to me as well as more plastic headbands. I really enjoy making them. It relaxes me somewhat. I also have a topic for tomorrow….I just REALLY REALLY hope it doesn’t become politically charged. I am not one for posting political subjects….and this really isn’t political but it is….
I hope you all had a wonderful Tuesday.
Have a Great Evening

I know I am in need of recipes..
I hope you all had a terrific Sunday!

Christmas Games….

When I was a teenager at Christmas when we would got to both set of Grandparents houses. We always played board games. Here within the last few days I have been thinking about playing Christmas Games with our kids.

And these are some neat games that are ‘Christmas’ related.

Christmas Card Toss

Get about 10 Christmas cards of various sizes. Place a laundry basket about six feet away from the participants. Have each participant stand at a specific place and throw the cards at the basket. The person who gets the most cards in the basket wins the game.
This is extremely difficult to do because the cards seem to have a will of their own!

Hum That Carol Game
Write Christmas songs on slips of paper (2 of each song). Then put as many pairs of songs as you have pairs of people in a bag. Let each person draw a slip of paper out not showing it to anyone. Instruct the people that they are to begin humming the song on their slip of paper when you say “go”. The object of the game is to locate the other person humming the same song that you are humming. When the partners find each other they hold hands and begin to sing the words to their song! They win the prize! It’s great fun with a large group. Make sure you spread everyone around the room to begin with and mix up the slips really good. Have fun!

This would be really great used for a baby shower we did this and use children’s songs, ladies church group used old hymns, etc.

12 Days of Christmas for LARGE groups
Each of the twelve days of Christmas corresponds to a month of the year. Ex. First day = January, second day = February, etc.
When the verse corresponding to your birthday month is sung, you stand up; when it’s finished you sit down. You *also* stand up whenever the gift for that day is sung in the chorus.

For example, my birthday is in May, so I would stand “On the fifth day of Christmas my true love sent to me Five Golden Rings” and ever after whenever that part of the song is sang “…Five Golden Rings, [stand up] Five Golden Rings[sit down], four calling birds….”

Once you get four or five verses into the song, you have people popping up and down like crazy.

Back-To-Back

Two people sit back to back. One person is given an object,e.g. a kitchen whisk or a small ornament, and the other given paper and pencil. Without revealing what the object is, the person with the object has to describe to the person drawing it what they have to draw. i.e. draw an oblong at the top left hand corner. Now draw a straight line diagonally across the page etc etc
What the final picture ends up like will depend entirely on how well the person describes and how the other person interprets the instructions! Often hilarious results, however!

I wish we had more people with us visiting this Christmas. I would love to try some of these out!
So does your family, extended family, church family play Christmas games like this.

I hope you all have a TERRIFIC Tuesday!

And the Computer problems continue….

I have so much to do with everything for Thanksgiving.
My computer is fine. It is now my wireless Internet is not connected for some reason. I am not going to mess with it and let Eric handle it when he gets home. He spent 2 hours or so last night just trying to get our Internet back up and running. Which luckily he did.
My kids were ready for the bus by 7:20 this morning. They do not leave for the bus stop until 8 am. So what did we do????
We put up our TREE!!!! And YES, it is WAY early for us to put it up….but I am going to wait on the decorations. We are still separating branches! It is BEAUTIFUL! I am mesmerized by it.
However, we do have a small problem with it….that I just know Eric can fix. It is a pre-lit tree and two of the branches on the bottom of the tree the lights will not come on when it is plugged in. But 5 minutes later they come on….only to go off 3 seconds later. There is a short in a fuse somewhere. But again, I am always afraid I will do more harm than good. It is not really that noticeable. But I notice it and that is all that counts. And no, the lights are not suppose to blink.
The tree just about touches the ceiling. It is so big.
Eric is at School. After his class he is going to stop by Sonic and bring some home to David and I. I just love Sonic. He wants to go back up to class after that to study. But I have found that I really need us to go to Wal-mart on a super quick trip. Think he will take us???? hhmmmmm, we will have to see. And maybe he will fix my connection to the wireless while he is home. I am hoping he changes his mind about going back to the library and studying. I know he probably will not though.
The tree can wait until he is off on Thanksgiving Day. That is the only day Eric has off. He also has to work the two days before and after Christmas. NO on is off on those days.
I do have a few last minute type of things that I need to pick up for Thanksgiving and I need to do some more things around the house. Tomorrow, I start my baking….my house will be filled with all different kind of scents! Can’t Wait! And I can’t wait for some Family time.
I hope you all have a Terrific Tuesday!
TTFN!

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of The Year…..

Two of my Favorite holidays are just around the corner!
Thanksgiving and Christmas!

I try to make my family a huge Thanksgiving Feast. Usually it is just the 6 of us. So we can have left overs for DAYS if we want. I do the same for Christmas.
I love cooking around the holidays!
Love the smells that remind me of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
It is only 118 days until Christmas.
So, with that said. This weekend I am going to have my kids make there Christmas wish lists.
I have started my Christmas shopping. It is all stocking stuffers and it is for Aimee. So far, I have had her a custom Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus wallet made for her. Aimee found out Yesterday, that she shares a birthday with Billy Ray Cyrus. He was born on August 25, 1961!
Anyway, back on topic. I have also got her a pink Hannah Montana Journal, Hannah Montana Tooth Tunes Toothbrush, and a Webkinz bracelet with a webkinz Wheel of WOW charm for it. That is all I have so far. Which is not much, But HEY it is a start???
David has already told us about a game that he wants. So I have that written down. I hope to really get a good start on my Christmas shopping this week.
I need to start making my Thanksgiving and Christmas menus.
Some you might think this a way to early. But we are a family of 6. And with 4 kids ages 10 -3 years old. It is never to early to start.
Halloween is also coming up. Daniel want’s to be Albert Einstein, Aime–??? don’t know yet, Zachary, don’t know yet, and David wants to be a cowboy.
So the Countdown is ON!
Guess I need to figure out how many days until Halloween and Thanksgiving.
(I don’t really consider Halloween a holiday but more of a fun type of a day)
I am getting so excited for this holiday season. Plus, it will mean no more heat! I am sick of it being SO darn hot all the time.
The countdown is ON!

Are you getting ready for the holiday season????
Have a wonderful day bloggers!
