Same ole, Same ole….

January 30, 2009 · 2 Comments

Yes sireee, that is me….I do the same ole thing day in and day out.  So I hope I don’t bore the small amount of readers I do have.  Hopefully, I will have new stuff to blog about when we purchase our MY car.

We are expecting more snow on Monday and Tuesday!  And the school my kids go to have used up all there snow days.  They just might have to use part of there spring break to make days up…or add the days onto the end of the school year.

I am such a procrastinator!  My nieces birthday was Jan. 7th.  I still haven’t gotten her gifts out yet.  Tonight, I am wrapping them up, printing the shipping label and getting them shipped out tomorrow.  I feel so horrible! :( Day, Day…Auntie is SO sorry!

I still haven’t got my hair cut yet.  Hopefully, that will happen in the next 10 days or so.    I also need to purchase new make up.  My ‘old’ make up doesn’t match my skin anymore…how can that be?  Maybe it never did!  I don’t know.  I want to try Bare Escentuals.  I have heard really good things about it.  It is just so expensive.

Anyway, not much going on…..

I hope you all had great day…unlike my Same ole, Same ole day.

I will leave you with a couple of pictures of Aimee taken on one of her ’snow’ days.

Snow days are a reason to SING!!!

January 29, 2009 · 2 Comments

Snow days are a day of rejoicing in SONG! And my daughter LOVES to sing. So today, I thought I would post a video of her singing. Now, you have got to know some things. One, she LOVES singing. She really loves singing for Jesus. Two, She was sick  the day I recorded this. And three…she is a drama QUEEN! If you watch the whole video you will be able to see parts of her Divaness. (Is that a word?)

Click on her picture below and a new window will pop up of the video.

We both hope you enjoy it.

P.S.–You can hear David trying to sing along as well as See and hear Eric too.

Snow day #2

January 28, 2009 · 3 Comments

Oh My WORD!!!  I am so ready for my kids to go back to school.  We didn’t get hit by a large amount of snow.  I think they could have opened school with a two hour delay and been fine.  Oh, well!

Eric’s classes were also canceled.  He has had two full days of no classes and not having to go to work.  Which today, I think he is wishing he could go to work or school.

I wouldn’t allow Zachary and David to go outside today.  Since they are both coming off of a cold.  Zachary is on antibiotics for his sickies…so they both were kind of bummed about that.  We did manage to get each kid a snowball.  We have a new ‘tradition’ in this family…it started last year I guess.  Each kid (Including Eric) went outside and got a good round snowball..we placed it in a baggie and into the freezer.  We keep them ALL year in the freezer.  Then this year since it was our first snow…we tossed out the ones from last year into the new snow and they made brand new snowballs to put back into our freezer with this years snow.   The kids love it because they can get there own snowball out all year and look at it.

I will be up at 5:45am  and ready to send the kids off to school.

I did manage to make homemade caramel today!  It turned out really good.

kitchencaramels

Tomorrow, I might post a couple of our ’snow’ pictures.  We actually just received a dusting of snow…nothing huge!

I will be posting my Omelet and Caramel recipe to my food blog soon.

Now, I must go and prepare dinner.  We are having Roast, Corn on the Cob and Mashed potatoes.

I hope you all had a warm Wednesday!

Take care.

My 400th Post!

January 27, 2009 · 2 Comments

I find it surprising that this is my 400th post.  I never dreamed I would have blogged this long.  I LOVE IT!  It lets me stay connected to my mother and my sister who live in a different state than myself.

It lets me connect to old and New friends.  I am just having the greatest time at it.  I may not be the best blogger in the world.  That is not what I am trying to set out to do.  I may not catch all my typo’s…and I may have grammatical errors…But I never profess to be a English major.

I sometimes-NOT all the time…write like I speak.  Which I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing.  I am excited with what the next 100 posts hold….

Today was interesting.  Both my husband and kids had no school due to the ice.  And Again…there is no school tomorrow for the kids.  We do not know about Eric’s classes yet.  Zachary had a doctors appointment scheduled for today on post.  We just knew it would be canceled.  However, Zachary’s doctor drove in from Nashville and had his nurse phone us telling us that right then the roads were clear and to bring Zachary in asap!  Which we did and we are so glad that he was able to get him in.  Eric and Zachary were home by 10 am.

Zachary has lost about 2.5 pounds.  So they lowered his dose of meds…not by much.  Just enough that maybe he will pick his weight back up.  He also grew a inch since his last visit in Dec.  Some ADHD meds the side affects are loosing weight.  We have to keep an eye out on that.  Other than that he is doing great.

Eric studied and surfed the Internet on his new laptop.  David played with his Lego’s.  Aimee drew.  Daniel went to a friends house and played for a couple of hours.  And I cooked!

For Lunch…I made omelets (yes I spelled the word omelet wrong in the picture)…Yes, I know unusual for Lunch.  However, Eric asked for them.  And once The kids found out…they wanted them too.  I even got my picky 11 year old to eat a cheese omelet!  I was amazed!

omletoohsogood

This is Eric’s Omlet…the kids were smaller.  Eric’s omlet had Bacon, tomatos, onions, black olives, mushrooms and cheese in it.

omletinside

For dinner, I made hot dogs and Mac & Cheese…and To finish it off…I made Chew Cookies.  They are HUGE!  A New family favorite.  The recipe only makes 18 cookies!  So nice and chewy!

I hope you all have had a wonderful Evening.

Used Car Shopping….

January 26, 2009 · 1 Comment

That is what we have been doing.  It is stressful to say the least.  We are just waiting to file our taxes (hoping to get that done within the next week) and then we will be able to afford a ‘good’ to us used car or van.  Just like everyone other Joe.  We live pay check to pay check and sometimes not even that. Our top dollar to spend $2500.  Why, I am telling you this…I have NO clue!

The Car story….

We moved here (our current home) in 2005.  We had two running cars’ between us.  Eric had his Mazda car and I had a venture van to carry our crew around in.  Eric is a military veteran. When we arrived here-he was still active and looking forward to this being our last duty station.  However, it become completely clear to us that Eric would have to retire from the military due to his back, neck, and knees.  Which were all hurt due to what his job intelled.

We were not expecting it…however…while he waited the 9 month to completely retire.  He began taking college courses.  In Early 2006.  Eric’s Car broke down for good.  Since we were living mergerly anyway…we couldn’t fix it.  The car isn’t worth but maybe $300!

So he began driving my Van.  Late in 2006 (could have been early 2007 can’t remember which).  My van’s engine just froze!  Again, Way to much to fix.  Found out later that the ‘98 Venture vans had a problems with engine freezing.

We were blessed to be attending a church that really cared.  And although, it was too costly to get the van fixed.  The church was able to get our car fixed for us.  Only costings us $80.00.

I have been without any transportation since.  It is getting hard on Eric.  He does a lot.  I am truely blessed with one of the best husbands on earth and one of the best fathers on earth.

So with this tax return Eric promised me a car.  Because now, it is causing stress with me.  Not being able to go grocery shopping, run my kids to the doctor, let my kids try out for a sport or extra curriclar activitiy.  Just because we have no way of getting them there.

We can’t spend much…like I said $2500.00 is our absolute top dollar.  However, I have been on Craigslist and have found a few that I really would mind having.  I do want to stay away from Venture vans and anything with the year ‘98 because that year of car just wasn’t good for us.

We had our hopes set on a Pontiac Aztek.  However, it sold.  I have been looking at the vans…..and although, they have the room.  I am just not impressed with the ones we have looked at.

We are also looking at a Ford Focus.  It is a 4 door and is in our price range.  However, yet again we are in a waiting game just praying it doesn’t sell.  It gets great gas mileage-30 high way, and 26 town.  And it will get the job done of what I am needing it for.

I have thought about phoning the owner and explaining to her/him and seeing if they would ‘hold’ it.  However, I just don’t feel right doing that.–So yet again, we sit on pins and needles hoping not to get our dream of having just a simple car dashed.

A big part of the reason we need a car is because of the kids.  I feel like they are left out of a lot, just because I can’t get them from point A to point B.  Daniel wants to go out for Football next year.  Aimee wants to go out for Drama club next year (yes, she is a little Diva).  And Zachary wants to start Karate. It will do him good and help him a lot with his AD/HD.  Although, we will have to pay for Karate Lessons…and Daniels football uniform and any other thing Aimee needs if they make there respective electives.

This is will be one of my ‘Good Things’ post when it is purchased and in our driveway.

I just felt it was time to blog about it.  Since we have had our hopes of owning one taken away.  It wasn’t meant to be ours.  Hopefully, the Ford Focus we are looking at is meant to be ours.

I hope you all have had a wonderful day! Stay safe and warm.  We are expecting ICE after mid-night!

Take Care!

Where have I been???

January 25, 2009 · 2 Comments

I know, I know….I have been blogabsent.  It has been 6 days since my last post.  I really do hate it that it has been that long.  I have just been super busy with my ‘mommy’ duties.  And those things come first.

I have been able to make a recipe and add it to my recipe blog.  It is a Reese’s Cup Chocolate Peanut Butter Double Layer cake.   Long name I know.  But it is worthy of a long name!  My kids loved it.  My husband and I both love it.  However if not careful when baking it has the potential to become dry.  So if you make it, watch how long you bake it for.  Every oven is different and bakes differently.  So just keep that in mind.  It does look labor intensive.  But it is not.  I had the whole cake done in less than a hour.

Tonight for dinner.  I am making pork chops with Cinnamon Apples and Mashed Potatoes.  It is a new recipe that I am using for the chops and the apples.  So I am thinking about posting it on my blog….in pictures.  If it turns out good.

Before I forget to blog about it.  Friday, Daniels school bus was involved in a wreck and it was just down our street on the other side of the hill.    They sat in the bus for over an hour!  And we were not even notified.  Apparently, the bus was rear-ended pretty hard by a high schooler flying down the street.  Not paying any attention.  I could have walked down to see him just for piece of mind.  Had I been notified.

Usually the school calls when something like this happens.  They didn’t even call after the kids had got to school.  And no word about it so far from the school.  Which kind of upsets me!  They are usually REALLY good to notify parents of problems with buses…etc.  No one was hurt….which is a good thing.

Eric only has 4 more shifts left to work at Hobby Lobby.  He is so looking forward not having to work retail.  Although, he is thankful that he was ablel to find that job relatively easy.  As well as the job at the University.

I am so proud of him.  Really proud!  Being a former Military Wife.  Of course, I am proud of him.  He has managed to only have ONE -”C” since he has went back to school.  And only TWO-”B’s”!  He has made the Deans list!  He has just had so much going on.  Yet, he still gets AWESOME grades!

I also have a confession to make…..Our Christmas Tree is STILL up!  I mean really! -sigh-  I do have a good excuse….It is a HUGE tree.  Eric didn’t want to put it back in its messed up box in the Garage because kids climb on it and it has destroyed the box.  It is an expensive tree (purchased at Hobby Lobby) and we don’t want it to break.  So Eric is going to make a wood storage box big enough for it.  However, we haven’t got the wood yet…and we don’t know how long it will be until he can make it.  So there it sits.  I do think I am going to make room for it in my ‘pantry’ under the stairs.  And leave it there until a box is made.  Everything else Christmas is down.

Daniel’s 12th birthday is coming up next month. How did he grow up SO very fast!!!!  As well as my 15 year anniversary!  WHHOOOHOOO!  Lots of extended family (not you mom and Shawna) didn’t think we would make it this long!  But we did and we are going to make it for our lifetime.

My dad will be turning 58 years old just a few days after Daniel turns 12. I never get the chance to talk to him.  Although, not by my choice.  It is hard to imagine my parents aging.  Although, my mother looks young and she is.  She is young to have a 35 year old daughter.  And be the grandmother of 5 grandchildren.

I have no clue what to get my son for his birthday.  He loves to read….so far we have got him one book.  He is at that odd age…where you just don’t know what to get.  Kid toys are starting to dis-interest him some.  And he is starting to ‘eye’ girls more! -sigh-

It is a lazy Sunday for my kids..and my husband (he woke up with a bit of a cold).  For me.  It is my busiest day.  So I better run and get stuff done.  I tell ya’ a Mother’s work is NEVER done.

I hope you all have a Warm Sunday.

Take Care!

Woke up to Snow!

January 19, 2009 · 2 Comments

We woke up to SNOW this morning.  However, it didn’t last long.  It was all gone by 9:30.  My kids were so excited though.  They are still hoping for a big snow this year!  Me-No so much!

Today, has been VERY peaceful.  My two little boys have been playing SO nicely together.  I haven’t heard a thing out of them.  And my two older ones I haven’t heard a peep out of since Breakfast!  I think I am doing good today!

Granted Bedtime is in a hour and a half for Zachary and and 2 and a half hours for Daniel and Aimee.  Hopefully, I will not get to many, “Mom can we stay up just 30 more minutes.”

Eric is putting in his notice tonight at Hobby Lobby.  He is quiting.  He does-thank-goodness have another job lined up.  It is promising to be better….I just pray it is.  His last day at Hobby Lobby is the 31st!  Both Eric and I have mixed feelings about this.  However, I do think it is for the best.

Tomorrow, Zachary, and Aimee both have field trips.  Aimee is going to go to the Theatre to see a ’show’.   And Zachary’s class is traveling to Nashville…..he is excited about that.

Aimee has also decided to do something different for her science project.  Just dont’ know what it is. She has until at least the 1st of Feb. to figure it out.

I was so busy listing new jewelry items in My shop that I didn’t know if I was going to have time to make a actual blog today.  I made time.

Here are a couple of the things I have listed.  If you click on the picture it will take you directly to it.

I am still working out all the kinks with my new camera.  It is HARD to get used to a new camera.

Are any of you going to watch the inauguration????  I don’t think I will.  I want to know where they are getting the money to throw this big party???  And having all the so called “stars” there does nothing more than turn me off even more with this ‘new’ president.

Okay, enough said…need to get on with our evening routine.

I hope you all had a wonderful Monday.  Take care.

Songs from the past

January 17, 2009 · 1 Comment

After yesterdays post. I got to thinking about songs that my mom listened to…and some I sang!

This is actually still one of my favorite songs. I won a talent show singing this song.
It is called, “Let Me Be There”. She doesn’t start singing until 1:07.

My mom also loved the song “Daddy’s Hands” by Holly Dunn. I remember singing this song in Nursing Homes on special occassion. I might have sung it other places as well. I believe that I song this song as well and won in a Talent show. I won two talent shows singing. (not trying to brag.)

These songs bring back so many memories for me. Of me practising.  My mom being my audience.  As well as my little sister (who is the better singer out of the two of us).  My mom, Uncle David and Aunt LuAnne gave me my love of Music.

What songs bring back happy memories for you?

I hope you all had a fantastic Saturday.

One Day at a Time….

January 16, 2009 · 1 Comment

Things are SO much better today.  It is amazing what a day makes.  I didn’t stay upset for very long.  The situation, in the mean time have seemed to work itself out.  Only time will tell.

I have to take it ONE day at a time.  Which reminds me of a Song my mother and I used to sing ALL the time.  It is called, “One Day at a Time, Sweet Jesus”.

The Lyrics

One Day at a Time, Sweet Jesus

I’m only human,  I’m just a woman
Help me believe in what I could be
And all that I am
Show me the stairway,  I have to climb
Lord for my sake,  teach me to take
One day at a time

cho: One day at a time sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking from you
     Just give me the strength
To do everyday what I have to do
     Yesterdays gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord help me today, show me the way
     One day at a time

Do you remember, when you walked among men
Well Jesus you know if you’re looking below
It’s worse now, than then
Pushin’ and Shovin’
Cloudin’ my mind….
One day at a time

I hope to continue to take things “One Day at a Time.”  And not dwell on things in life that I can’t control.  God has a plan and a purpose for everything that happens.  And I know he would never give me more than I could handle.

He (Meaning God) has seen Eric and I through some tumultuous times….We got through it without a scratch.  So, I put my faith in him.  He will not lead us down the wrong Path of life.  If we (as a family) didn’t have God working in our life….I would hate to think were we would be at right now.

So thank you all for your nice comments to my “Disappointment” post.  They are very much appreciated.

We woke up to 2º temps.  IT IS FREEZING!  The kids still have school.  Lots of other counties around us, schools are closed.  However, my kids do not seem to be too upset by it.  However, if it does start snowing I am sure that they will dismiss classes early.

Another Thanks for the continued prayers for my”Good Things” Post.  They are still very much needed and VERY much appreciated.

I hope you all have a VERY WARM Friday! (where did the week go!)

Take care!

Disappointment

January 15, 2009 · 2 Comments

How do you deal with disappointments?
I don’t deal very well with disappointments. I can gladly say that my kids have not yet disappointment me in the least. They are Awesome, well adjusted little kids. Okay, maybe two of my kids aren’t so little.

How do you handle disappointments with the adults in your life? Like say maybe a Mother (No mom, I am not disappointed in you), Father, Sister (again Not disappointed in you at all little sister), Wife, Husband, girlfriend, Friend, Best friend.

Today, I have been disappointed by one of the above. I will say it is not my kids, mom, or sister. I will not go into detail about it. But my goodness, does it ever hurt.

I guess life is full of ups and downs and disappointments are to be expected. However, some disappointments are so heart wrenching that you feel like all you have done up to that point is for not.

I know I am not making any sense to a lot of you. I guess this is more of a upset/rant but not really a rant post. But I am not really upset….okay YES, I AM upset. But that feeling will eventually go away. The disappointment will be the last to go away….and it could take awhile for that to happen.

I will say it has been over 6 years since I have felt disappointment like this. I had forgotten how it felt. Just wish I didn’t have to feel it now.

I am sure I will be better tomorrow. You do know that you Make your own happiness, right? At least I think we do. I just have to get myself to my happy place and be the bubbly self that I know I am.

With that I am going to go and build puzzles, play with play-doh and also play with Indiana Jones with my fantastic four year old.

I hope you all have a awesome Thursday!

Take Care.
