I LOVE LUCY!!!!

November 29, 2008 · 5 Comments

Hey Guys!

I watched I Love Lucy ALL day on Thanksgiving Day.  It was great.  My 10 year old daughter came into the living room because she heard me laughing.  I told her I was watching I Love Lucy episodes. A questionable look came across her face.  I then told her that this is what her nanny (my mom) grew up watching.  So she sat down and started watching.  She laughed.

Then I realized that 30 minute sitcoms just aren’t what they used to be.  Now days you can’t leave your children unattended while watching a sitcom.  The innuendos are just ramped and not suitable for kids.

With I Love Lucy, I didn’t have to worry about inappropriate language…..and it was so nice not have to stand there and monitor it (the language)  while cooking.  Although, I could hear it.  It was great.

I Love Lucy and The Golden Girls (I wouldn’t even let a child what this show) are my two favorite all time sitcoms.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  We did.  And we got to watch the Dallas Cowboys WIN!!!! WhooHoo.  Yes, I love watching Football.  I do believe that our favorite College (OU-OKLAHOMA SOONERS)  team plays sometime this weekend.

I haven’t been feeling too great the last couple of days.  I am starting to feel a little better today…I am hoping by Monday that I am back to my old self.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Take Care

One down-Several to go…

November 25, 2008 · 7 Comments

Hey Guys!

I hope you are all having a fabulous Tuesday.  Yesterday, was interesting.  David woke up with the roosters.  Around 5:45 AM.  Eric and I are usually up at 5:15 AM.  And from the moment he woke up, I could tell that he was ‘off’ somehow.  He didn’t look sick….just sort of not all together and tired.

He insisted on being up with Daddy.  David hasn’t got to spend much awake time with Eric.  So David was really just enjoying setting in Eric’s lap curled up with a blanket.  He ate some breakfast (Grits, yes, I have a good ole southern little boy)….however, he didn’t eat them all (which he normally does).  Eric had to go to class and he put David in our over sized chair.  David asked me to get him some flannel pjs and socks because he was cold.  Just as soon as I got the socks on him he threw up (sorry TMI I know).

I knew then he would be clingy most of the day.  Got him cleaned up.  Finish making my headbands and got Aimee and Zachary off to school…..By that time David wanted a bath so he took one. Twenty mintues later he was done.

By noon he was getting hungry so I gave him some crackers and water.  Praying he would keep it down.  He did.  He laid on the sofa, watch his cartoon, while I cleaned and made candies.  At 12:45 all I heard was silence….I knew something had to be up.  So I went to check on him.  He was SOUND asleep.  He slept from what I believe was 12:30 to 3:30PM.  And he needed it.  After that he was fine. I think he caught Zachary’s bug or something.

However I did get 24 dozen Chocolate peanut butter balls made.  I was up till 1am making them.  But hey, they are made and so so delish!  I also took the ham out of the freezer last night to thaw.

Here is a picture of my Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Balls.  I even impressed my husband he thought I had sent him a picture of someone else work until he knoticed it was our plate and counter top.  Silly Man!

peanutbutterballs

Today, I have to make a few headbands, get the frozen strawberries out for thawing. I know there is something else.  I probably will not think of it before it is too late.

I am in need of some more cinnamon and Pam which Eric is going to be bring home…..

Tomorrow will be busy indeed.  I am going to post though.  I really want to get back into the habit of posting once a day.

I hope you all have wonderful day.

Take Care!

The blogs I love to read….

November 24, 2008 · 2 Comments

Hey Guys,

This is going to be quick.  Since I have a lot to do.  However, I want to let you all know about the blogs I absolutely MUST read if not every day, then every other day I have to check in….

I do visit my sister’s blog about my niece when she posts.  However, I am not going to share that link.  I did want to mention it though, since I love looking at my niece and what her and my sister and brother in law have been up too.  Love you Dayona!

Lois~She has been commenting on my blog for a long while.  It never occurred to me to check out her blog until a couple of weeks ago.  She is so sweet.  Has a calming voice.  And is always encouraging.  She shares a lot of the same beliefs as I do.  I would really love to meet her in person some day.

Jennifer-Jennifer and I share a lot of things in common.  She has three sweet little kids.  Two boys and a Girl.  We both have a single girl.  She is a wonderful Christian mom, wife, and friend.  She homeschools her kids.  And LOVES Walt Disney World!  She is just a sweet person who gives wonderful advice and is a great friend.  I have often said she is just like a sister to me.  She would indeed make a wonderful addition for my little sister and I.

Judy~She is just a awesome lady.  She is a wonderful seamstress.  Love her Aprons that she shares with us and the patterns that she shares are just adorable.  She is so down to earth.  Oh, and I might add she also share the MOST awesome recipes.

Amy-The lady is also a WONDERFUL sweet Christian lady.  She has a sweet personality and it shows through her blog.  They are in a ‘holding’ pattern on waiting on adopting there Daughter from China.  She is a Christmas fanatic as well.  I have been enjoying her blog almost since the time I created this blog over on Blogger.

DeeJay-She is awesome.  She lives in my home state!  Not to terribly far from where I grew up.  About 45minutes to an hour drive actually.   She is also crafty, a mom, wife and grandmother.  She is also just so sweet….she is also unique and Korky (in a very good way)!

That is it for my ‘old’ blogs, I do have a lot of other’s that I frequent but these ladys I just really enjoy reading.

I have added a couple of others to my blog roll you can find those in the colum to your right.

I just want all of you to know how Thankful I am that you all have a blog.  I have learned so much from all of you.  And all your support is very appreciated.

I am looking to add to my blog roll of favorite blogs to read.  So if you know of any or some even please let me know and leave me there link so I can go and check them out.

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday.

Take Care!

The Rush Begins….

November 23, 2008 · 2 Comments

Hey Guys!

Last night, Eric, myself and David all went to the Super Wal-Mart up the street from us.  To get the rest of the needed groceries for Thanksgiving.  IT WAS A MAD HOUSE!

I need some cans of pumpkin.  I found two.  However, I really wanted 4.  I spotted at the end of one aisle stacked up on some boxes were cans of pumpkin.  I made a straight line for them.  There were 10 cans left.

It has been a while since I purchased Chocolate chips.  They have gone WAY up in price.  I bought a 36 ounce bag for $7.25!!!!!  Outrageous!

Anyway, we had to pick up a few NON-thanksgiving things.  We had to get David and Zachary a coloring book a piece.  Zachary does feel well.  He is better today.  My kids love coloring when they don’t feel well.  A bonus is that it is fairly cheap to buy.  We bought two coloring books and two boxes of Crayons for $4.00.

Our Turkey is out thawing.  That sucker takes up just about all of a side of my kitchen sink.  And while thawing it all I can think of is that silly commercial where she is handling her turkey and drops it to the ground and when she gets a hold of it to throw it back in her sink…she misses and it goes straigt out the window hitting her husband in the head!

turkeylurkey

While at Walmart Last night I picked up some Christmas Cards.  What usually happens is I pick up some card and then Eric picks up even prettier cards at Hobby Lobby For me.  I just love sending Christmas Cards.  It has been sort of a Tradition for us to send out Christmas Cards.  I think I have sent out cards every year, except for one.

Here are the Christmas Cards I picked Out…Glitter catches my all more than anything…and I don’t know why.

christmascards

I love the snow globe affect of this one….and it also has glitter on it.  Kind of hard to tell it.

christmascards1

I thought they were pretty.  Might not be every ones taste…but I liked them and my daughter loved them when I showed them to her.

The kids go to school two days next week.  They had there school Thanksgiving Lunch last Thursday and my daughter just RAVED about how good it was.  Three of my kids have expressed interest in wanting to help make different plates of food.  I think Zachary will…he just doesn’t feel well.

I have 3 birthdays coming up next month.  Well, really four.

My mom’s, My son Zachary, My step-grandmother, and My Uncle David….they are all next month.

I have TONS of stuff to do today and within the next few days…..as I am sure most of you have as well.

So on that note…I gotta run and get to it.

Have a wonderful, warm Sunday.

Take Care.

Old Picture….

November 21, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hey Guys,

I found this old picture yesterday.  I have asked Eric for his permission to post it since it has both his brother and his sister in it.  I am not going to blur out there faces because they are all in there 40’s now.

I always comment to people how David looks like his Aunt (which is the little girl in this picture) and his gramma (Eric mother).  Now, I can honestly say….David gets his looks from his daddy.  And look at all that almost blond/white hair.  Eric’s hair now is a light brown/brown.

I think David got his blonde hair gene from Eric’s side of the family.  I only have one grandmother that has/had blonde hair.

Here is the picture. Eric is the little boy in the shorts.    The first thing I thought was…”WOW, David looks a LOT like Eric!”  I just pray my little David keeps his sweet blond hair.

littleericbrothersister

Anyway, had to show you my husband as a little boy.  He is around the same age in this picture as David’s age is right now.

I am going to be super busy this weekend getting prepared for my big cooking and baking week next week.

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday.

Take Care!

Thanksgiving is one week away….

November 20, 2008 · 2 Comments

Hey Guys!

Thanksgiving is only one week away.  Almost time to get the turkey out for thawing (this bird is over 20 pounds).  I don’t know if I should take it out of the freezer on Saturday or Sunday…..I might take it out on Saturday evening. I thaw mine in the refrigerator.

Monday I will take out my ham for thawing.

We are going this weekend to get the rest of the groceries needed for Thanksgiving baking and cooking.  Just hope I don’t forget anything.  We don’t have that much left to get…spices, butter and such…..just don’t want to leave anything out.

Aimee and David are constantly telling me how they are going to help me out in the kitchen this year.  I so hope they do.  I also hope my other two boys jump in on helping.  It might get messy but it is so worth it to spend time cooking with my kids.

So since on Thanksgiving Day, I will not be able to get on and post a blog post.  I thought, since it is a week away.  I would post what I am Thankful for this season of Thanksgiving…

1. God- Wouldn’t be where I am now if I didn’t have my faith…and God to guide me.

2. My husband-He is at the core of my being.  He is so caring and supportive.  And a AWESOME father.  And to top it off.  He is a Christian Man!

3.  My kids- My kids are my world. I am not a very outgoing/outspoken person.  But if It has to deal with my kids—-I AM!  My boys have taught me so much.  I never dreamed I would be the mother of three fabulous boys. Boys like to get dirty, are rambunctious, sometimes loud, mommy’s sometimes can’t figure them out, they like the sound of noises (if you catch my drift), they think just about any ‘human’ noise is funny and SHOULD be laughed at.  However, I have come to realise that my boys are sweet, caring, love there sister, smart, funny, witty and just down right FUN to be around.  My boys are awesome.  My daughter, she is the light of my life.  She has the sweetest heart.  She is very tender hearted.  She loves, to do crafts, art, sing, dance, and LEARN.  She is big on school.  She can play with the boys but still be very elegant about it.  She has a set of lungs on her that any cheerleader or coach would want.  When God was choosing my kids….He sure did chose them right on the money for us!  I feel very blessed.

4. My Parents (mom and dad)-I love my mom so much.  She wants so much for me and my sister and her grandchildren.  So much so you can see it in her eyes.  She loves us, even when she doesn’t understand why we (her daughters) do some of the stuff we do.  Or pull some of the stuff we did growing up.  She has always been there for us.  Even when she couldn’t be there in person.  I knew she was always pulling for me and always on my side.  Did I mention how much she loves all 5 of her grand-babies???  Well, she does.  They are the first things she asks about when I speak to her.  Not, How are you….it is How is my grand-babies?  Sweet isn’t it.  My dad, I am thankful to him.  He provided food, shelter and clothing for me.  He worked shift work to supply us with not only the things we needed but with the things we wanted as well.  I will always be thankful to him for that.  I never wanted for anything.

5. My step-dad-I am thankful for my step-dad.  I don’t call him step-dad.  I either call him Joe, Daddy Joe, or just dad.  I am thankful for him because he takes care of my mom.  She however, is one of the most important women in my life.  I really don’t have to worry about her because I know Joe is there for her.  Which brightens my day.  He love my kids and considers them his grandchildren 100%.  Which they are. My kids call him Paw-Paw Joe.  Zachary my soon to be 8 year old….always wants to call either his Paw-paw (Eric’s dad) or Paw-Paw Joe if he gets into trouble.  Thinking his grandparents can help him so far away.  To sweet.

6. My sister (and her family)-I am so thankful that I have a sister.  I was the only child for so long.  When God gave my sister to my parents.  I think not only was he thinking She is the perfect baby for them.  I think in addition to that he was thinking…she is the perfect sister for her.  And she certainly is.  My brother in law, I am so thankful for him (even though he is from my rival high school) for being such a good husband to my sister and excellent father to my niece.  My niece I am so thankful to have that little one as my niece.  I see her doing great things in her life.  She is just too cute for words.

7. My grandparents-Both sets of my grandparents are near and dear to me.  Both sets of grandparents instilled something different in my life.  However, they both instilled the love for God, and family.  They both showed me what a true loving marriage is suppose to  look like.  My grandma C taught me how to cook, be kind and giving.  My grandma K taught me how to be sweet and nice to people even if they were not polite in return.  My grandfather, both of them are just the best grandfathers on this earth.  At least to me they are.

8. Eric’s mom and dad-I am thankful to them for raising such an amazing man.  For giving him the tools to be a great husband and father.  For encouraging Eric to go back to college and get a degree.  I just wish they could see him go at it in person.  What a fighter he is.  How strong he is.  How loving, caring  he is.  How fun he is to be around.  And how he loves and adores his kids.

9. My neighbors-I have some wonderfully awesome neighbors.

10. My home-I am so thankful that we have a roof over our head.

11. food-

12. Caring Doctors

13. Hobby Lobby-Eric’s job.

14. The Army-The Army has made Eric a great person.  I am so proud of him

15. Our military service men and women-May God be with them and there families during this Thanksgiving Season.  And Thank you all so much for your service to our country.

16.  My blog friends-I so enjoy reading all my blog friends blogs.  I enjoy reading new blogs as well.

17. My health and the health of my family-

18. Eric’s car-Even though it is a clunker.  It still gets the job done and gets us around.

19. Friends

20. Living In the USA!  I am so thankful that I live in the land of the Free and home of the Brave.

Sorry this post is SO long!

What are you thankful for?

Have a Terrific Thursday! Take Care!

My Sister and I. (Or is it the other way around)

November 17, 2008 · 3 Comments

Hey Guys,

As I was pondering what to blog about today.  It dawned on me….I should write about my sister and myself.  I know I have ‘blogged’ about her before.  But not in to much great detail.  She comments on my blog now….so if you see a comment from my sister, you have a idea about her.

The first thing about my sister is she is 8 years younger than myself.  I also know that she is the first baby that I ever fell in love with (You know the unconditional love type thing).  She was born with a Head full of black hair and COAL black eyes.  Just gorgeous.  Now, it has been a while since I last seen her in person.  However, I do believe she still has either VERY dark brown eyes or the Coal Black eyes.

My sister started singing at the very young age of around 2 I believe.  She was known as the “Little Girl with the BIG voice”.  Believe me when I say she could have gone a long way if singing professionally was what she wanted to do.  She has sang Multiple times at the Oklahoma Opry

From the time I was old enough to drive I thought she would NEVER let me have a moments peace.  Now, I wish I could see her everyday.  She had a few mishaps growing up.  One of those oil lamps fell on one of her fingers and she had to have stitches.  She was only in Kindergarten at the time.  I remember my mom freaking out.  And I remember worrying about her at school that day.

She also slit her little check on a nail that was hanging out of her closet.  I believe she was trying to get something.  I can’t remember she was and is so curious.  Now, it looks like a dimple when she smiles.

I can remember her wanting to be a Veterinarian when she was little.  We both REALLY love cats!  She has a white one (I think it is white) I have a solid black one, and our mother has a orange cat.   Now she is going to back to college to get her Master’s in Speech Pathology.  Something that is near and dear to my heart because I have 2 kids with speech problems.

She is married to a country boy.  This is how she puts it.  And Being country is not a BAD thing at all.  I was raised in the ‘country’ for 20 years.  They have a little girl.  She will be turning 2 soon.  And she looks just like her Aunty I mean Mommy!  I love that little girl so much…I got to talk to her for the first time on the phone last night…as she was trying to get out of her mommies reach of the phone.  :)   So CUTE!

What Brought this on…I was looking through her my space.  And a lot of things she has on her page….I can so relate to.  Which given our space of age….is a GOOD thing.  Maybe I am just ‘young’ at heart!

Last night when I spoke with her I tried to encourage her to start a blog of her own.  Somethign I hope she does.

For sisters or brothers that live far away from there siblings.  Reach out to them.  Send them an email.  It is so nice to reconnect.  Because you will always have your siblings.  At least I will…

I hope you all had a spectacular Monday.

Take Care.

Make Up, Earrings & such…

November 15, 2008 · 3 Comments

Hey Guys,

It is a Cold nippy morning here at our house.  I also might want to add RAINING!  Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea To see how young is too young for little girls to start wearing make-up and getting there ears pierced and such….

There is a good reason for this post and that is….I have been reading a lot of blogs lately that mom’s let there daughters were make up at what I consider a VERY young age.  As well as getting there ears pierced.  And there is also a new thing to me out called “Threading” of the eyebrows.  ANd I knotice on one blog a mother let her 10 year old daughter have her eyebrows ‘thread’.

Threading is like plucking there eyebrows to give the eyebrows shape.  My question is….Would you let your 10 year old daughter essentially pluck there eyebrows?

My answer…is NO my daughter is not allowed to touch her eyebrows.  Not at all.  And I think it is awfully young to even want to pluck the eyebrows.  I didn’t start plucking mine until I was 14.

Aimee although she doesn’t want her ears pierced yet.  I am sure there will come a day when she does.  And on her 13 birthday.  Her and I are going to have a Mother/Daughter Day to were she can get her ears pierced.  By then, I am sure she will want them….But not a moment sooner.

On that 13th birthday outing she will also be allowed to pick up some lipgloss, powder and blush.  That is it.

I think some parents rush to get there little girls into big girl things.  I want my kids to stay as little as possible.  They are only going to be young once and have all the time in the world to wear make up and earrings.  And plenty of time when they are adults to do things like Eye Threading.

Now am I being to overprotective?  I don’t think so.  My daughter only needs to concentrate on a few things.  School, Learning, Going To Church, And doing her best, Doing her chores and keeping her room clean.

I don’t want my 10 year old to be concerned about her looks now (even though in my biased opinion she is a doll)There will be plenty of time for that in about 4 or 5 years!  See now even that is coming up to fast for me.

What are your thoughts on this?  When is the RIGHT age to start wearing make up and earrings and having your eyebrows pluck?

Oh and for the record my daughter primps all the time.  Everything has to be perfect for her.  Her clothes all have to be a certain way in order for her to go out.  Or be seen in an outfit.

I have managed to create a new headband and it turned out so cute.  It is an owl headband!

owl3

Not much else has been going on.  Eric will be picking up more work hours Thanksgiving Week.  Which is also good.  The kids are excited about Thanksgiving.  Aimee and David have already voiced there concerns over wanting to help me this year.  So I guess I will have at least 2 helpers.

Aimee and her class to a field trip this friday to a Plantation.  She throughly loved it. Daniel has a friend in his class that will be moving right around Thanksgiving.  We live in a military town….that is expected. But always kinda sad.

Zachary is really into Star Wars Clone Wars right now.  He is doing better in school as well.  They are having a big Thanksgiving feast on the Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving.  He has to bring Corn.

Oh I have put up two new recipes.  They are dessert recipes.  But oh so yummy.  And they are the same thing just differently made.  They are Chocolate Cover Peanut Butter Balls and Peanut butter balls.  My favorite of the two (even though they are both good) is the Chocolate Covered Peanut butter Balls.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Take care!
