Whatcha think of this outfit…..

April 30, 2008 · 3 Comments

Daniel’s 5th grade graduation is coming up and I don’t want to go looking like a slob….since all I really own is around the house clothes.  This is going to be a informal graduation.  With a lot of people being held at 11AM just when it is starting to get HOT here.  So I want to be comfy.   Which reminds me, David is going as well…so I need to find him something comfy to wear as well.

So anyway…Tell me what ya think and be BRUTALLY Honest….

The shirt (I am really loving this color of green)

The Capris~Kind of plain but hey new…

And the shoes…(Although, I do have to try these on since I have horrible feet)

So tell me what do ya’ll (yes, I am a hick when I want to be) think of this outfit.

It’s Finals Week….

April 29, 2008 · 2 Comments

Hey Guys!

What a busy week for both my kids and my dear husband.  For my husband he is SO stressed right now.  It is finals week for him.  He has ONE more final to take on Thursday.  He stresses about test and 90% of the time does REALLY well on them.

He is going to school majoring in History.  He loves History.  He could literally talk about it ALL day….  After Thursday he will have roughly a two week break.  YAY!!!!His kids have really missed him and so have I.

Aimee was chosen by her teacher to participate in the school wide spelling bee.  Only one student per class was selected.  I wish they would have told her an exact date…we found out last Thursday about it.  Aimee didn’t know then when it was.  She didn’t find out Friday.  However, when she went to school on Monday she found out that the Spelling Bee was THAT day….

Why in the world didn’t the teacher let us know of the day????  So Eric or I could have at least tried to be there.  I HATE missing things that my kids are in.  And today, was Aimee’s Recorder concert.  I know I didn’t miss much.  Neither Eric or I went to that.  And I hated that I had to miss that as well.

Eric also had to go to Zachary’s IEP meeting today.  I was suprised to hear them say that Zach was really improved a lot.  Hopefully, over the summer I can help him some with his reading and spelling.  Anyway, one of the special Education teacher told Eric that one day Zachary came into class and just broke down in tears…. :( I was heartbroken to hear that.  He told his teacher that he missed his daddy.  You see my kids see less of there daddy now, than when he was active duty.  That should change once Eric graduates.

Tomorrow, Aimee’s class is taking a field trip.  She is really excited about that and has been planning her lunch for the last week.  They get to eat on the bus since it is a two hour drive there and back.  And yes, they are pushing it for time.  Last year Daniel didn’t get back until 1 minute before school was let out.

And then On Monday starts Field Day for the kids.  It is Daniel and Zachary’s field day.  Aimee was picked for a helper.  Her field day is next week…..

Daniel also toured his middle school that he will be attending next year.  They made it into a field trip for the kids.  He was VERY excited and had a great time getting familiar with the school.

Whew, this has been a SUPER SUPER long year for us…….ALREADY!

Oh, and progress reports came home today….not one negative on any of there reports.  Zachary even received an S+ in Spelling!

I am excited for the kids to be out of school…I say that yet when the middle of June rolls around I will be ready for them to go back to school…..

I hope you all had a fabulous Tuesday….

A Book Meme…I’ve been tagged

April 28, 2008 · 1 Comment

I’m It….I have been tagged!

I’ve been tagged for a book meme, Jennifer tagged me!Here are the rules:
Pick up the nearest book.
Turn to page 123.
Post the 5th sentence.
Tag 5 other people.

I am going to cheat a little bit.  I am not a big reader.  However, I do read a LOT of cookbooks.

So mine will be a meme on my cookbook….

This is sentence is from Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade Slow Cooker Recipes 2.
Stir in chunks of beef and vegetables and it becomes a hearty supper.  (this page actually has no recipes on it)

Now to tag 5 people.

  1. Eric @ SecondHand Thoughts -(this is my husbands blog)
  2. Amy @ Amy’s Random Thoughts–although I do think she is on a trip right now.
  3. Deejay @ Simply Sassy

I can’t seem to pick two more…so if you want to participate leave me a comment and I will visit your blog as well.

That was a lot of fun Jennifer.  Thanks for thinking of me.

I hope you all play along!!

Thursday Thirteen # 15~13 Places I lived at or Vacationed AT…

April 24, 2008 · 6 Comments

This week’s Thirteen has to do with places I have either lived at or vacationed at….

1. Eakly, Oklahoma ~I was born and raised here.  All of my family still live in Oklahoma with the exception of a few cousins that married and did the wise thing and moved away from Eakly…..it is a GHOST town now.

2. Weatherford, Oklahoma~I lived here for 3 years while working at 3M and going to college.  I made floppy computer disk at 3M.

3. Clarksville, TN~This is the town were I married My husband.  We eloped and were married by a woman justice of the peace.

4.  Woodlawn Tn-If ya drive by you will miss it.  I am not kidding.  The same goes for Eakly.

5.  Fort Campbell, KY~My first duty station of a Army Wife.  I love Fort Campbell.

6.  Orlando Florida~We vacationed there on our way to our next ‘assignment’.  We spend 10 days in Orlando.  Going to Universal Studios, Gator World, Sea World and the like.  We didn’t go to Disney though.

7.  Miami, Florida~Living in Miami is like living in another country.  I am serious.  It did have a decent Zoo.  Better than Nashville Tn, Zoo.

8. Stuttgart, Germany~I really LOVED Germany.  Didn’t like the base we were assigned to….but LOVED Germany.  We had our last child in Germany….and the hospital experience I would take a thousand times over the hospital experiece I had with in the states.  I absolutely loved the way they cared for there patients and there litttlest of patients.

9.  Dallas TX-I vacationed with my parents there when I was a child and teenager.  I never dreamed my future father in law was living there as I was vacationing there as a teenager.

10. Alexandria, LA~ Spent a week there for Thanksgiving the first year Eric and I were married.  Eric’s mother’s family is all down in LA!

11. Colorado~Vacationed there as a child.  I can’t remember what town we stayed in…it might have been a few.  I do remember going to Pikes Peak…and seeing Santa Pole, North Pole or something like that.

12. Houston TX~some of my husbands family live there.  We spent a Christmas with them when my daughter was only 4 months old.

13.  Nashville TN~I used to work at Opryland.  We have taken the kids to the Zoo.  I don’t recommend the Nashville Zoo.  The Hermitage is AWESOME!

Thanks SO much for visiting my Thrusday Thirteen.

What a weekend…..

April 21, 2008 · 3 Comments

Hey Guys!

What a fun weekend we had…

Saturday night Eric came home with a few rented movies and a couple of movies that he purchased.  He rented a “Adult Scary Movie” that I don’t even know the name of…because I can’t stand scary movies.  Just like I can’t stand the sci fi channel.

We watch first Alvin & The Chipmunks…I didn’t see it when it came out.  However, Eric took David (Our 3 year old) to see it and Eric said he LOVED it and was Dancing with all the music….It has to be returned on Wednesday.  And we just might extend the rental of it.  David I bet has watched it at least 10 times since we purchased it.  I loved it as well.  The chipmunks were my favorite cartoon (besides the smurfs) to watch growing up.  His birthday is June 1st.  So I we are going to purchase it for him for his birthday.

He also rented “Enchanted” for Aimee.  Aimee loves it.  Eric says it is funny.  It even has Patrick Dempsy in it…but I still couldn’t get into it.

He purchased the complete Indiana Jones DVD set and The Nancy Drew movie.  I haven’t watched the Nancy Drew movie….But my daughter has and loved it.

Most of the day Sunday was spent watching Indiana Jones Movies.  I forgot how much I enjoy these movies.  Although, they do have more cusing it in than I remembered.  Still LOVE them.  And Can’t wait for the new one coming out later this year.

Between Watching Movies.  I cleaned and did laundry.  (My laundry seems continuous)….I mean who on earth has this much (imagine me stretching out my arms) laundry besides me……

At the end of the evening before Zachary went to bed we had a fight……a SILLY STRING fight.

It was a blast.  We bought 12 cans of the stuff.  Each of us had 2 cans and it was kids verses the parents.  My kids were grinning from ear to ear.  They really enjoyed it…and it was a BIG stress reliever.  And the clean up didn’t take but maybe 5 mintues.

Eric also brought me home a beautiful Tuscan picture with a gorgeous frame.  I will have to see if I can get a picture of it.  It looks like it was made for the small wall I put it on.  He got it at a awesome price as well.

Oh, and I did start cleaning on my our garage yesterday and threw away some stuff…it’s a start.

And today I got some new fabric in…made a headband and it turned out beautifully…At least I think so…

I hope you all had a splended weekend and Monday.  Have a wonderful evening.

Thursday Thirteen #14-Things I HOPE to accomplish

April 17, 2008 · 13 Comments

Thirteen Things that I hope to accomplish BEFORE my kids go back to school in the fall.

With School very close to ending…here is a list of 13 things I want to accomplish before school starts back in the fall.

1. Paint!  I want to paint ALL of the downstairs! All of it.  The hall way my living room, formal dining room, breakfast nook and my daughters room.

2. I want to replace my ole’(and it isn’t that old…not even 3 years old) dingy carpet that the contractors put in.  They used VERY cheap carpet and it shows everything.  Not good with 4 little kids running around.

3. I want to purchase a deep freeze and fill it with up with Bread, meats, summer foods….etc…

4. And to do #3  I We are going to have to clean out our garage before the middle of May.

5. I want to purchase the nice 2″ wood blinds for my breakfast nook to match my kitchen window blinds.

6.  I would also like to start changing out the rest of the blinds in our house little by little.

7.  New Window treatments….I have one window in my formal dining room and I would love to have a curtain flowing to the bottom of the floor.

8.  Get my cat declawed.

9. Landscape and change out my front plant/tree/flower beds—-again the contractors did a horrible job at landscaping our property.

Have any ideas???  Here is a picture of the front of our house….

Kitchen Table Chat's Home

The two little ‘trees’ on the ends one is dead and one is on the way out…

10.  Change my front door….I HATE our front Door.  I want a black door to match our shutters. With an oval glass in the middle.

11.  Get Screen doors for all three of the doors leading outside.

12. Stain our Deck.

13. Get a grill and some deck furniture…

Now, I will really be suprised if we even get a 4th of this accomplished….Guess we will see..

Feeding a Family of 6….

April 15, 2008 · 2 Comments

Oh Gosh!  I knew having 3 boys I would eventually have a BIG grocery bill.

We go through roughly

5/6 loafs of bread a week-sometimes more.

6 Gallons of Milk a week…it is getting closer to 7.

I have stopped purchasing the small jars of peanut butter….those don’t seem to last us very long. We go through a jar of Strawberry Jam every 2 weeks. I use about 6 tomatoes a week.  And that is just for Sandwiches.  Not including if I need them for a salad or any other recipe.  I can’t count the number of bags of Cold Cereal we go through a week.  We go through at least 2 boxes of hot oatmeal a week. We go through a box of grits a week (this could be more my 3 year old LOVES his grits!).  Eggs we go through about three and a half dozen eggs a month.  Sometimes more there too…

I could go on and on…I really only have one picky eater out of my bunch and that is my oldest Daniel.  I think that kid could live on Cheese Pizza, pizza rolls, donuts, PB&J’s, Mac & Cheese, Spaghetti, waffles and pancakes….that is about all that child will touch….there are some more things just can’t remember them…And at Thanksgiving all he will eat is the desserts (imagine that) and my sweet potato bake. Oh, and a roll.

My other 3 will eat just about anything you sit in front of them.  My 9 year old daughter even loves SUSHI!!!!! YUCK!!!!  I think she has her daddy’s taste buds.

I “thought” we were going to try and save our stimulus package check.  However, I am trying to talk Eric into getting a deep freeze for our Garage….and stock up on bread, meats, summer weather food such as push up’s, Ice Cream….that way, we are not always running to the grocery store.  We are going to be cleaning out the garage sometime in the next few weeks and I am hoping to clean a spot just for a freezer.

I so dread when they start being really active in sports….I remember being so hungry after practice and games….oh gosh….and with 3 boys!  I am in trouble!….lol

I just realized this the last couple week just how much more food items we go through.  I fear it is going to get worse before it gets better.  And my kids are nothing by tall lanky things.  They must have extremely fast metabolisms.

Yes, the grocery bill will be out of control by the time Daniel reaches 18.  I am so glad that I enjoy cooking from scratch because….we would really be in the poor house if I bought all the processed pre cooked foods that aren’t so good for us….WOW!!!!

Luckly, I don’t think Daniel will be taking his lunch when he starts middle school.   I think he is just going to be eating in the cafetria.  Hopefully, I can ‘wing’ all my children from taking there lunches to school in the 6th grade….

I hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday.  Much of the same for me…Laundry, picking up my formal living room from kids camping out and watching television last night…

Mother’s NEVER stop being Mother’s!

Creative Daughter..

April 14, 2008 · 2 Comments

****Warning~BIG BRAG POST~****

My 9 year old daughter is so creative.  She lives up to her initials A.R.T!  She has a nack for drawing, painting and crafts.  She created this AWESOME (or so I think) double rainbow picture yesterday.

Then last night Eric brought home a few supplies for her to make her own necklace.  We are not talking the really “cheap”kid type necklaces either.  He brought her home some pink iridescent beads and white beads.  And a Giraffe charm. She LOVES giraffes and elephants.

Eric help her place the toggle clasps at each end….it is quite tricking and can be dangerous with the needle used.  However, she did everything else.  We also had some tiny brown wood beads here at home as well.  Eric and I strongly discouraged her from using them.  However, it is her necklace and we told her she could create it as she pleases….

Eric and I were WRONG!!! Her necklace turned out AMAZING!!!!!  The brown beads really add a nice touch…

I will try to get a good picture of her necklace tomorrow.  Although, it might be after she gets home from school.

Aimee gets her creativity from Eric.  I feel (although I have been told differently) that I have absolutely NO artistic ability.

Here is the picture she drew and colored in with drawing art pencils…

All my kids are pretty creative…just wish there mother was 1/2 as creative as they are put together.

Aimee is a different kind of kid…that is for sure….One day she told Eric and I…”I am going to be the first THINKING teenager.”  She is an outgoing little girl.  Her favorite color is pink followed closely by purple.

She is a WIZE at spelling..this whole school year on her spelling tests she has only missed 3 words.  Her spelling adverage is 106!  And there challenge words they are given each week is on the upper 6th grade level.  She has never missed a challenge word.

When she was 5 she was admitted to the hospital in Germany for 8 days….She had very bad pneumonia.  She was so brave…she stayed in a German hospital.  I couldn’t go and see her because I was pregnant with David and they didn’t want to risk me getting sick. That was a ‘turning’ point for her because ever since then she has wanted to be a trauma/ER doctor.  She even owns a set of scrubs.  I truely believe that she is going to become a doctor.  I have that much faith in her….and more.

Anyway, we had a pretty good weekend here at our TN home….Have a wonderful evening…
